TUTORING STYLE/PHILOSOPHY
I strongly believe that education is a right, not a privilege. "Knowledge is power," Sir Francis Bacon stated in 1597. This statement remains true, especially in today's society. Knowledge sets you apart from the person who is lacking it. And what better way to acquire knowledge than through an outstanding education? However, teachers are overtaxed and cannot meet the demands of their students due to budget cuts and over-crowded classrooms. Furthermore, students with special needs frequently benefit from greater support and focused attention. That's where private tutoring enters the picture. Private tutoring provides the necessary and optimal one-on-one individualized teaching that can fill in the gaps in a student's learning.
Since there is a variety of factors that may prevent students from achieving their full potential, I get excited when a student has that "ah ha!" moment at which time they begin to really understand a concept or idea that has eluded them. Based on a through assessment of a student's strengths and challenges, I will customize a adaptive plan of action and continually re-assess the student's progress along the way. Information obtained from consultation with the student's parents is integrated into the tutoring lessons. Changes in the educational plan are then made following the results of each evaluation. These combined efforts lead to an increased likelihood of success, both academically and personally, as well as a boost in self-confidence.
